Good Morning everyone it is Shanna here on another Monday to help you get your week started with some Great Impressions inspiration.

First off February is almost over...seriously tomorrow is Valentines Day and then next thing you know snow will be melting, flowers will be blooming, birds will be chirping.... Okay maybe not on this planet. I think when it moved on the axis that seasons somehow changed.... you think they would change the dates considering zodiacs changed do to our planets shift.

Anyways we are not here for science lessons we are here for some good ol' crafting fun!

I thought I would use a stamp from the Stamp Of the Month. Easter Lily's G452 is the stamp. I really love this stamp a lot!

I really love flowers. I am starting to enjoy coloring flowers more than little people... okay maybe not too much but it is a challenge I take as I am ready for some flowers now on my kitchen mantle brightening up my gloomy home thanks to gloomy weather. I had someone come to give me an estimate on painting the inside of our home and doing our floors lol we have a fireplace that is suppose to be connected to a switch..... the switch is no where to be found.... the builder went bankrupt before finishing the house..... We had our home inspected before buying it.... so what to do! I don't want a fireplace so I think they should take it out put up a wall and give the fireplace to someone else!

Anyway back to stamps lol.

On this care I used the largest classic oval (Large) Spellbinder die, some crackle paint, distress inks, Wild Orchid flowers, gold micro beads, the papers I wish I could tell you but I have no clue, and some ribbon and lace from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Fabulous Friday~Nicest Perks

Good morning everyone! As you are reading this I am actually in the car traveling up to Pa. to visit family and to go to my cousin-in-law/BFF's baby shower. It's a lovely 10+ hour drive from here in NC. that I do not look forward to EVER!!! I do love seeing my family and of course sharing this wonderful moment in time with my best friend (pregnancy was a real struggle for her) but man....being in that car that long....ugh! We will be home for 5 days....not long enough!!! :-(

This week our team was challenged to do something embossed. It could be any form of embossing you wanted to do so I did heat embossing again! I embossed the sentiment and I embossed around the distressed edges.
I used two images for this card...I used "Nicest Perks" and "Coffee Cup Border".
Again this is a fairly simple card...it wasn't meant to be but once I got the image on the card base I realized just how big it was and I wasn't sure what to fit around it so it became a CAS card!
I had to take this picture at night so one is with the flash and one is without...I really need to set up a little photo area for my stuff and actually learn how to take good pictures!!!

Blowin' Bubbles - Z Fold Card

Happy Thursday! Today's card showcases a stamp I've been just itching to get some ink on...Say hello to Mouse with Bubble Hearts (G46)! Do you ever pick up a stamp, knowing how you'll use it, but it's not the right time? I knew when I saw this adorable stamp what type of card I was going to make. February seemed like such a long ways off...and here we are!

This card is known as a Z fold. (I've sometimes come across it called an "S Fold".) A Z fold card is a great way to create a scene or panels that go together. I love how parts of the card are peeking!

This week the Design Team is using embossing techniques on their projects. Did you know that you can take clear embossing powder and mix in a little glitter to customize your own glitter embossing powder? I know you really can't tell in these pictures, but that's just what I've done to the hearts. The sentiment is embossed, too.

A little bit of masking, punching, tape, some inking and coloring with Copics and we're done!

I can't say enough about the stamps I used on this project...the mouse could be used for 'sending love or a little TLC'...how about some cheer?!

The sentiment is gorgeous (Valentine E330)! It was hard to decide what I wanted to put with it on the card. I was thinking 'hello', 'love you', 'thinking of you'...lots of choices when you've got a Versamark pen! Yep, a pen, so you can design or fill in any image (or even part of an image) to emboss.

And the border stamp (Meadow Border F496) has been used with many of the stamps in my stash - Love it!

Good Morning!

Gotta a new technique for you today! At least it is new to me (grin!)

If you haven't picked up the latest edition of Paper Crafts titled "Cool Tools" you really should run out and get it. My head is swimming with fun ideas using tools

many of us already have in our craft room.

My flourish frame and initial is, of course, by Great Impressions Stamps. Have to say these are some sturdy and deeply etched stamps. I put them through quite a bit and they came out looking good as new with just a simple soap and water wash.

Here are the steps:

1. Cover card-stock large enough to fit your image with watermark ink and embossing powder.

Heat powder. Really ink up your card-stock and pour on the powder.

2. Repeat entire process for a total of seven times. Your card-stock will get thick and goopy.

3. While warm and pliable stamp your image. Do not remove stamp until cool. (about 5 min.)

Don't worry about any imperfections. They only add to the beauty of the finished product.

Once cooled, I stamped my initial in the center and let it set.

I then traced over with a permanent black marker.

Happy Monday With Shanna

Good morning. Did everyone have a wonderful weekend? I must say mine was not the best and definitely one I want to forget. My daughter started with rubbing her poo in the carpet Friday night. Saturday she was horrific at the circus.... not something she will get to do for a while! Sunday well :( let's just say the day slipped away. The Terrible twos is in full swing 100%. Needless to say I need a mommy weekend full of wine, chocolates, sexy men on tv, and a whole lot of music while I craft!

But enough of that and let's move onto wait it is February....

that means there is a new Stamp of the Month (SOM)

You should definitely get your local stores to carry them. SOM are the newest stamps The Great Impressions puts out. If you did not know they are such a wonderful range of stamps great for anyone in wood or cling. I can't wait until you see next months (March SOM). You are in for a fun and humorous surprise.

Well for my card to share with you today I had a blast of inspiration this week and extra time to spend as my daughter had plenty of time out last week. I created a card using a cuttlebug button embossing strip, made a rosette out of red cardstock and cut the ends so it gave it the extra pizazz, some ribbon fromThe Great Impressions from the 2011 SOM and I used last months SOM Swirly Valentines (E746) and the Heart Dandelions (G320) to add the finishing touch. However, behind scenes the design team has a little challenge we are doing to show challenge ourselves creatively. This week each member will be show casing a project using embossing (heated or dry). Therefore I am showcasing both. My favorite is heat embossing! I love watching the magic happen when it melts.

So I used clear detail embossing powder an white card stock for the Heart Dandelions and I went over them with Barn Door DI and used a 1.5" Circle Punch to punch it out for my rosette topper.

Then I used Red Apple embossing powder to add this sweet fancy sentiment. Hurry up and get some Great Impressions Valentine stamps to make for your sweeties!

Hi All - Hope your weekend is being good to you so far!

I always love to get sneak peaks of stampers crafty spaces. Such an easy and wonderful way to get new ideas to make your craft room work the best for you.

I keep everything pretty much within my reach....lazy that way (grin!).

So if I use something often, it is close by.

As you can see I have a corner desk which I have filled from end to end.

In the center is where I create.

I like to keep some of my (precious to me) items where I can see them.

Sometimes for inspiration, other times just to make me smile.

I need a blank slate to start a project.

Therefore I always clean up before I begin something new.

I'm funny that way.

Those jars you are seeing on my bookshelf, keep all my ribbon by color.

I wrap them around a clothespin and put a pin in to hold in place.

I keep my heavy neutral card stock for bases here and envelopes too.

This is where I store most of my embellishments, punches, sheets of chipboard and 12x12 DP.

I use the smaller paper pads for most of my work, so those are stored on top of my desk in organized bins. When I have scraps I keep them with the pad by fastening a big clip to hold everything tight.

My Cuttlebug station is here too with all my dies below it.

All of this shelving is from Michael's - a great deal when you gotta coupon.

Across from my desk is a window with my little sewing machine.

Doesn't it look lonely?

Next to that is a small walk- in closet with all of my stamps and miscellaneous house hold stuff/junk.

I organize those by manufacturer. Compared to many stampers out there, my stamp supply is small.

However, the folks at Great Impressions have been very generous

with providing me an amazing array of stamps

to work with...a little like stamp heaven. (grin)

This week the Design Team will be sharing creations using Embossing techniques.
Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Happy Friday everyone! Did we manage to get through our weeks? My week went by fairly quickly believe it or not! And it was a pretty good week.

I have been hearing this rumor that the new store is ALMOST ready! I have (as well as the rest of the DT) taken a few sneak peaks at it and it's amazing! You all are going to be so happy with how this site turns out. Let's just say it's a lot of hard work, time, and energy to get a website up and running and it was well worth it!

Today I have a really simple card for you. Have you ever had this card and couldn't think of a single thing to do with it? That was my problem this week. I just had no idea what to do with it and I looked at tons of blogs and sketches and all that and NOTHING....nothing seemed right so I decided to just go with a CAS card!

A Bird in Hand...or Fancy Rose Frame!

Happy Groundhog Day!

Did you know there is an official website dedicated to the celebration of this momentous event in Punxsutawney, PA, where Phil, The Groundhog, will check out his shadow and predict whether Spring is on its way or another 6 weeks of winter? (www.groundhog.org)

Me, I'm hoping good ol' Phil's calling for Spring! And just to help him along, I've got a card showcasing the lovely Bird in Roses (F517) stamp - another of January's Stamp of the Month stamps.

I wanted a simple color scheme with the focus on the bird, so I went with black and white with a touch of red and blue. The border is made using Rose Intertwined Hearts (G450). Ink up just the top edge of the design and stamp around the card.

Hope you've been inspired to get out your Great Impressions stamps or pick up a few new ones (locate a store near you!) Psst! The Great Impressions online store will be up and running very soon...and when it does there will be some challenge fun going on here! Just thought you might like to know...

(Update: Nope, I didn't stay up to watch the webcast, but I did just check to see what Phil had to say...according to our furry friend - Six more weeks of winter! Which I suppose I can attest to as we are expecting a snow storm this weekend. Better get out the hot chocolate!)

Beachy Chick

This beachy chick doesn't give a cluck about what anyone else does.

She is heading to the beach where the sun is at her back and the sand between her toes.

So wish that were me! (lol!)

This stylin' chick is colored, paper pieced and fussy cut. Her arms were laden with beach gear...so I slid a life preserver on her tail feathers. Cosmo Cricket's Snorkel line gave this beach scene lotsa dimension with fun chip-board pieces. For even more texture the beach is

actually sand paper I snuck from my DH's workshop (grin).

Happy Monday Happy Monday. How many have been watching all the sneak peeks???? I have I have! I love it all. I cannot wait to start ordering some new products. I have started some wonderful projects. Some of those which I hope to be able to share with you soon. Even some new techniques I have been practicing.

So for today I just made a simple Valentine card using the image Love Chicks B189. I stamped them in Stampin' Up Ink Pretty In Pink. I then proceeded to use my my scalloped square spellbinder dies to cut out some white and pink cardstock. I used some Bo Bunny papers and pink tissue paper along with ribbon and twine as well as some pearls and some Rosy Red Glitter. I also added a charm that was given to me as a gift so I have no clue who makes it sorry but who doesn't LOVE a little LOVE!

My craft room

I've been asked what my craft room looks like so I thought I would share some photos of my work space and my storage system.

I started out using a small table, a lateral filing cabinet to hold my cardstock and paper, 3 rolling carts and a tall plastic cabinet. This wasn't working very well for me so my dear hubby went to Home Depot and bought some white cabinets, peg board and a counter top. I store my dies, embellishments by color in plastic containers, sewing stuff, envelopes etc in the upper cabinets and my 3 ring binders that hold my clear and ezmount rubber stamps in the tall white cabinet. Also store stamp sets in cd cases on the counter top and along side the tall white cabinet. Most of my ribbon is wrapped around spring type clothespins and stored in glass jars. My coloring supplies, watercolor paper, finished cards and ink pads/refills are stored in the tall tan plastic cabinet.

Fabulous Fridays~I'm so Sorry

I am sooo sorry but my title represents the image that I am using today.....where is my image you ask???? OMG.....my very nice "expensive" camera is having some technical difficulties when I was trying to take my picture yesterday so I am having my DH look at it today and I'm praying it's just ME and not the camera. So....I do have a backup camera that I keep in my purse...well...I must have kept it on and it's dead....soooo dead that the lens is actually out in like "take picture mode" ugh...and I can't find the charger since I don't really use that one much. Soooooo today I am volunteering in my son's room and thank goodness his teacher and I are friends and she is going to let me take my pictures with her camera at school today...lol...so I will be back later this afternoon with my full post! I don't know why I don't work further in advance...this wouldn't be an issue if I did!!! Anyway...heading out the door to school be back later!

Getting Inked!

Welcome back! It's already Thursday and it's been a week of adorable projects, wouldn't you say? These last few days have been busy ones for me...looking forward to the weekend and getting a few more cards finished for Valentine's Day. Glad to have the Great Impressions' blog for some crafty inspiration in the meantime!

Have you gotten any of January's Stamp of the Month stamps, yet? If not, what are you waiting for?! I highly recommend them! I am finding all kinds of fun ways to use them...especially the Rose Banner (E744), 'Always Cherish Memories' (E745) and the Rose Intertwined Hearts (G450).

The Rose Banner reminds of those old fashioned valentines with the hearts and swags, so I couldn't resist (pun intended!) getting my heart inked up, dressed up...embossed, crackled and popped up!

This is one of those projects that I finish and then when I revisit later I find that there are a few things I'd like to tweak...like on this card, I could send it as is, but I think I'm going to add a few things to this card...maybe a second ribbon on top of the red one...maybe a few pearls along the top edge...I try to keep my cards simple, but I don't usually succeed (have you noticed I like a lot of technique on my projects?)

I've been busy inking up this cutie-pa-tootie

from Great Impressions Stamps!

Isn't she the sweetest?

I paired her up with my Sidewalks stash from October Afternoon.

She is fussy cut and plopped into a field of grass. I zipped around my circle Nestie and my grass die with my Janome Sew Mini. Perfect machine for sewing on cards and small crafts.

For accents I added a flag to hold up my sentiment and a butterfly grazing in the flowers.

Tied things up with some twine and a button.

Doesn't she make you wish for Spring?

Sigh....it will be a long time coming here I'm afraid.

For now, guess I will have to be content with putting a little Spring in my crafts. (lol!)

Wise owls

Good morning and a happy Monday to you all. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Mine was full of thunder, lightening, and rain.... cold rain!!!! I do not understand what the heck is going on with the weather, but a little steady pace of one temperature would be nice. Not this sunny and rainy back in forth banter of cold and warm.

Well today I have a short post, but just wanted to share with you a quick and simple masculine card. I do not normally make masculine cards so this was a fun change for me. I really love the colors and the owls are just too adorable. Owls I think were a real big hit last year.

I used the Wise Owl (E644) stamp and the With Age (E647) stamp.

I colored the owls with copics and used my Spellbinder Oval Die, and distressed the edges with Walnut Stain Distress Ink . I used some My Mind's Eye paper with some chocolate colored cardstock I have. I also used some cream cardstock to stamp the With Age sentiment stamp in Memento black ink and distressed the edges with Walnut Stain distress ink. I cut it like a banner and finished the card off with some jute string and a button.

Are you all ready for some GREAT IMPRESSION challenges???
We are working behind the scenes to hopefully have it up as soon once the store is up and running. Unfortunately, bad weather is has the owner's playing it safe right now. Hopefully they are doing okay as there have been power outages all over due to the bad snow storms.

Free Stickables Storage Solution

Hi everyone,

Hope your having a good weekend. I found a free stamp storage idea that I thought I would pass on.

I have a Sizzix BigKick machine and bought some new plates for it recently. Opened the package this morning and a light bulb went off. The package is the perfect depth to store my Great Impressions Stickable stamps. And it has a hole in the top of the package so I can hang it on my peg board.

Love that's it's free and I can recycle it instead of throwing it out.

Welcome back everyone! It's Friday.....finally!!! This week seemed to be a bit long for me.
I was struggling this week with what I wanted to do for my project and I decided to do something I haven't done in AGES!!! Heat embossing! I used to emboss everything and then....I guess I just got tired of it and stopped all together so I pulled out my heat gun and embossing powders and here's the image!!!
It's a fairly simple card this week as well but I did do my own rolled flowers. They are sooo cute especially when they are all glittered up and super quick to make!

This project was so easy to do...cut out your template, stamp and emboss each piece, put it together and decorate (visit my blog for more pictures and details.) All those bits and pieces of ribbon and embellishments you have ~~hoarded~~ ~~hidden~~ ...ahem... saved may just be what you need to make an adorable pair of pretty pumps...and quite affordable, too!

The Rose Intertwined Hearts (G450) would also make a beautiful lace-type pattern...hmmm...and wouldn't the Bird in Roses (F517) make a sweet vintage design?

I think I'm just getting warmed up!

Here's a quicky and easy Valentines day card using the adorable Bunny Love stamp and the paper piecing technique.

(I stamped the white layer with bunny image then stamped another one on a scrap piece of white cardstock. Then I stamped the image again on pink. Cut out pink heart and attached to main white image. Then cut out bunny and attached to pink layer.)

Shabby Valentine Collage

Yikes!! My project today is so far out of my comfort zone (lol!)

But boy, did I have a ton of fun putting this together.

I started with the frame, Great Impressions stamp,

and one sheet of lovely Prima paper and just kept adding.

Isn't this a wonderful image? - it's called Romantic Collage from Great Impressions.

I stamped it twice on ivory paper, once in Rich Cocoa and once in Distressed Victorian Velvet. I fussy cut out the entire image in the Rich Cocoa and cut just the framed portion in the Velvet. My frame is lightly sponged with Glimmer Mist. All the papers including my doily were sponged around in Antique Linen. The outside edges of my card are painted white, sanded and then sponged. Love that look! Then I just played! Really, you've just got to move things around...

and around until it works for you...

Starting the Week Off Right

Good morning and happy Monday to everyone. I had one hectic weekend. My Friday started with a migraine and my two year old kicked into full terrible two mode. Her aunt and cousin came to stay with us Friday night as well. Little Miss A was horrible in gymnastics and got in trouble with her teacher a few times... I must admit it was funny watching her make the teacher chase her around the balance beam. As a stern mom I went out and had to use the threat "If you are not a good girl and listen to your teacher NO MORE GYMNASTICS". Needless to say she finished class, got her stamp on the hand, and passed out in the truck on the way home. There are only two things that can make me happy within seconds..... ICE CREAM (preferably Cold Stone) and shoes. I am a shoe-aholic! I think having kids is a great why to stop buying them cold turkey! Well I turned to Reebok Run Tones and Walk Tones.... even a more expensive choice than my average heel cost. I love shoes. I could wear heels anywhere...even to the grocery store. I am even planning on having our bathroom remodeled (maybe next year or the year after) to include shelving for my shoes. Taking out our tiny tiny shower will be a very big improvement.

When I saw this stamp for the January Stamp of the Month Program I had to have it. Is this not a beautiful shoe? I would I love heels that tie and I have never had embellishments on my heels but a nice fabric similar to like an Asian print style but roses in a shiny satin mmm black with bright red... I should start making shoes lol. My fiance would put his foot down with that. I have enough hobbies between cooking, baking, cross stitching, and now cards or paper crafts!

I really hope you enjoy this card. It was a quick simple make. The papers are just black and dark red cardstock. The design paper is My Mind's Eye - Union Square. I colored the Rose Shoe (F516) with copics and once again used the stamp Je t'aime (A137). I used some pearls in all assorted sizes and some lace from Really Reasonable ribbon.

I thought since Sundays are open days for us right now I'd fill them in a little bit with whatever pops up!

I'm really excited to see we have 99 followers that's awesome!!! Thanks to those of you that are following us and joining us each day for a look at the DT's work.

Today I wanted to share with you the SOTM (Stamp of the Month) program. I know you have seen on the sidebar a photo of some projects made with the SOTM and wanted to explain it a bit.

(Lace Background)

These stamps when they first come out are ONLY available to local craft stores. So right now....this stamp^^ is only available in stores until February and then it becomes open stock. I think this is really a great program because I am all about supporting our local small businesses and this is a perfect way to do so. Along with the SOTM there are other stamps that are new as well, stamps that go along with the SOTM....as you can see on the project board

Oh my goodness...it's finally Friday!!! My son was off school for 3 weeks for winter break and this was his first week back. Let me tell you it was not easy getting up this week. I got way too spoiled with sleeping in and going to bed late over break.
Today I have for you Birthday Diva. She has a TON of gifts...I could not color all of them (maybe it's just laziness) so the one's that she is juggling I paper pieced with scrap DP!

Look at these flowers. They are soooo sparkling!!! I took this picture at the perfect time of day today when the sun was shining right in the window upstairs so you can actually see that the glitter is glitter and sparkling!

A Thousand Winds of Memories

Hello, hello!

I'm typing up my Thursday post and my card is sitting here beside me drying. I had the original card designed and made a couple of weeks ago. When I had picked up my December Stamp of the Month (SOTM) stamps from my favorite local stamping and paper crafting store (Hello, Simple Pleasures in Colorado!), I was fully intent on making birthday cards...and I did!

Then two nights ago I was looking at my card, thinking about Valentine's Day and had an idea...yeah, well, you know the saying about 'best laid plans' and all?

To make a long story short (you can read the longer version and more on the making of this card on my blog)...this picture is NOT my first attempt at getting the idea in my head wrapped around this project...

Also available as Stickables.

...but I am persistent.

Fluffy clouds, shiny balloons and recent Life events inspired this card. I'm glad I decided to 'go with it' and reimagine my original idea.

This is definitely a better IRL (In Real Life) kinda card!

Breakfast Anyone?

Did you know that breakfast food is all the rage in stamping land right now? Really??

I just didn't get it until I saw this little number from Great Impressions. Found it at my local craft store and just had to have it! I have the wood version, but you can also get it in the new Stickables.

Such a retro feel to it don't ya think?

Perfect fit for October Afternoon's Modern Homemaker DSP.

To start, I stamped the toaster on some textured metallic card stock in Memento Black. I Let the ink set awhile as it will want to smear on metallic papers (learned that the hard way!) While this was drying, I stamped the image again on heavy weight ivory card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa, colored the toast and drew grill marks. Do this before you

fussy cut out the toasts so you have a larger area to hold on to.

When the ink was set, I fussy cut the toaster. I used some tiny silver brads for the knobs and glued on the googly eyes. Again, because of the smear factor, I hand drew the smile on my ivory cardstock, colored it, then cut and glued it on the toaster.

I choose a couple of red brads to highlight my sweet sentiment. Then popped up

both the toaster and sentiment for lotsa yummy dimension.

You will find I rarely make a flat card (lol!)

Good morning everyone. I hope everyone's having a great start for the new year. The first week is already over. Seeing all the post this last week was so much fun. I really hope you enjoyed seeing different creations daily. I am so excited to be working with a bunch of talented creators. I tell you this week we have some good stuff coming up so come back each day and check out some of our creations.

I decided to do something different this week and make a bookmark. I really need a bookmark for my notebook that keeps me organized with all my design teams and commissions. So I did something very clean and simple (CAS).

I used an Ink Essentials Manilla tag and covered it with crumbled up tissue paper for texture. Once that dried a little I went ahead and used a Tim Holtz stamp and embossed it with Sparkle n Sprinkle's clear embossing powder. I then used distress inks tumbled glass and worn lipstick to get the colors I got. I really loved the Romantic Postage (F425) so I used this stamp with Sparkle n Sprinkle's gold detail powder (My favorite powder so far). I then stamped Je t'aime (A137) all over with Memento's tuxedo black ink and finished it off with some jute string at the top. It was so quick and easy to make. I think you might spend more time waiting for it to dry if you are an air dryer (I used my heat gun). I really love this stamp so you may see it on a few upcoming projects!

This was a real easy bookmark to make. we would love to see your creations using some Great Impression Stamps. The store will hopefully be opening up February 1st. They are working hard to get it all put together. Also, the January stamp of the month program should be coming put to stores shortly!

Whelp....I'm April Lower and I have been stamping for over 10 years now. I got started by going to an SU! party (thinking at age 22...what on earth do I want to "stamp" for), I came home with a catalog and the rest is history. I have come a long way since that first party and have branched out A LOT! Three years ago I got my first NON SU! stamp (Stamping Bella) and I realized there is this whole other world of stamping....I started a blog, got more and more stamps from different companies, even started getting digi's and then began trying out for DT teams! Fabulous Friday~When it Rains

Have you all enjoyed your week full of wonderful creations from the DT? We still have one more to go on Saturday so make sure you stop back by for Theresa's post and then Sunday I will have a post up to formally introduce the Design team to all of you!

I guess we have all been on the same path this week with our nice bright fun colored cards...it just seems that once you get through Christmas you don't want to look at another Christmas card or winter card let alone make them!

I decided for my very first post to use "When it Rains". It's such an adorable stamp with those cute rain boots and it kinda' fits me since I love cute shoes in general a great card to put a smile on a friends face.

I have been dying to make my first post because I wanted to tell you about the Great Impressions rubber. It's amazing!!! It is so deeply etched that you get the best stamped image every time. I promise you if you have never bought from Great Impressions before you will not be let down by the quality of these stamps.

Happy Thursday!

Angi here, aka Mistress of Mayhem, known to a precious few as MoM (4 in particular)...I'm sure more than a few of you can relate at this time of year as the holidays wind down and we get back to the (hopefully) less hectic pace of Life...lol

It's day 5 of 2012, my kiddos are back in school and I have a wonderful feeling it's going to be a GREAT year of crafting!

I don't know about you, but I can never have too many cards and Great Impressions' December Stamp of the Month stamps hit that sweet spot! When I first saw the images, I naturally thought 'birthday.' After playing with the stamps I realized these stamps aren't just for birthdays; there are so many adorable and usable images...cupcakes, cocoa/tea/coffee cups, candles, balloons, and more.

Lots of celebration inspiration!

With Valentine's Day on the way, you could easily whip up a few of these with a little prep work. The frame is heat embossed in white and the cupcakes are simply stamped and 'water' colored using ink and a water brush.

Want to add that special touch? Get out the liquid appliqué and your favorite glitter and frost those cupcakes! You won't believe the difference this little detail will make... I'm so happy to be joining you each Tuesday here at the Great Impressions Blog!

Has everyone survived the holidays?

I'm getting back into the swing of things by jumping

right to the next holiday (giggle!)

Yep, time to think about those Valentines Day projects. My card showcases the

"Heart Blossoming Tree". Really a versatile stamp...you can dress it up with ornaments for Christmas or add Fall leaves. I was a bit nervous lining up my stamp next to my computer generated sentiment. But no worries...with the new Stickable Stamps the image is printed on the backside

of the stamp which makes it super easy to line up.

I punched out some tiny hearts, glued them on and added a few falling just for fun. The dainty flowers and leaves are colored in with my Copics and a tiny pearl added in the centers. My tree is planted on a half circle cut with a Nestie,

then covered with a shiny satin ribbon tied on with an embellie.

Well everyone my name is Shanna and I am soooooooo pleased to be making my first post as a design team member for Great Impressions. These stamps are amazing and when I saw how many there were I went crazy picking them out.

Great Impressions has such a variety and stamps that can work with anyone's budget, and guess what..... they come with your choice of wood mounted or cling mounted (STICKABLES) for acrylic blocks.

Who doesn't love more room for more stamps???

For my very first card, I thought I would make something bright and different. As we all have just finished up Christmas and Happy Holiday cards, I needed a drastic change . If you are anything like me I was done with Christmas the day after and got almost all the decorations put up last Monday.

I am ready for BRIGHT, SPRINGY, and SUMMERY cards and that is what I brought to you all today!

I used A School of Fish (E649) and Just Floating (E648) to create my bright summery card. I used some plain white, light blue, and hot pink cardstock. I also used a sheet of paper from Fancy Pants: Beach Babe paper pad. I thought the paper complimented the stamps perfectly.

I also used some lime green baker's twine and a dew drop to make it look like a hanging pitcure. I did my sentiment (Just Floating) in white embossing powder, added some glossy accents to the bubbles, used clear microbeads for inside the shaker, some saved acetate from packages, SP dies large scalloped circle and classic circle, foam tape, memento black ink for the fish, veramark watercolor ink for the and I colored my image with distress inks spiced marmalade and broken china.

New things in the New Year!!

Good morning wonderful Great Impressions followers! It's almost the new year can you believe it? 2012....wow!!! Anyone have any resolutions they'd like to share? I personally don't do resolutions...not sure why; I guess mainly because I feel like if I need/want to make some changes in my life I shouldn't wait for a certain day to roll around to do so....lol! But there is nothing wrong with setting goals for things you'd like to accomplish in the coming year. My goal would be to get more organized. I feel totally out of sorts lately so I need to come up with a few things for remembering things (my brain is gone as well) and for keeping track of things, especially DT commitments.
Anyway.....for the New Year at Great Impressions a brand new online store is about to be opened! They are "trying" very hard to have it up and ready around the 1st but if not....I promise it won't be too long after that, that you will be able to do all your Great Impressions shopping at their personal online store! That was one of the reasons for starting up this blog again. To help spread the word about Great Impressions and their store so I really hope to see this blog grow over the new year and of course see some amazing sales over at the online store!
I hope you'll frequent the blog because each day we will have a design team member doing a post for all of you using the wonderful Great Impressions stamps and they have been hard at work getting their posts ready to start next week.

I wanted to share with all of you the Stamp of the Month program. This is a program was designed for stores only! So if you want the stamp of the month you need to find a craft store near you that carries them. After that month is over you are then able to buy the stamps online or from the catalog!

Oh my golly....after a week of reviewing all applications and blogs...we had over 40 of them....we finally made our decision for the 5 girls that will be joining this great company and help represent Great Impressions Stamp Co.!!

Please join me in welcoming and congratulating them!

We will be fully starting in January to give the girls time to pick out their stamps and recieve them in the mail and also allow them to enjoy Christmas. Until that begins we will be doing posts and sharing some of the creations we are able to make throughout the holidays so stay tuned in and don't forget to become a follower so you won't miss out on anything!

I say awarded because even after just one conversation with the wonderful ladies that run this company I am in love with them and have you seen their stamps???? I get to use these stamps and creative wonderful creations with them! So with that being said I/We are looking for 5 other ladies (or men ;-) ) to join us!!!

This special person will help in organizing our future design team. They will be responsible for maintaining a working relationship with the design team and Great Impressions R.S. Inc. We ask that you keep the blog flowing and coordinate any special events related to the design team and the blog. We also ask that you will be responsible for posting one project a week on the blog using Great Impressions stamps. You will be in charge of the Great Impressions group that will be our main form of communication and organization. We ask that you post regularly on your blog and that you are able to post high quality photos of your projects. At times we might ask for physical examples of projects for presentation at trade shows and other events.

In return, we will send you a start up package of $50 in Great Impressions red rubber Stickablestamps. Then every month after that, you will get $35 worth of Stickablestamps to create with. If there are special images that Deone would like to promote, we will send you the designs in addition to your monthly choice of stamps.

We have been extremely busy here getting a new catalog organized and ready for the printer, now we get to tackle the new website!!! I have to say that you will love the new website and it will have a search engine so you can find your favorite GI stamps faster.

In the mean time, I thought I would put a card on here that one of the GI employees has created. Jody works in the shop making the rubber stamps. We think she is a very talented card maker, dont you agree?

November will be our last challenge for awhile. We have a few things in the "works" and we feel that in order to focus more on these new projects we should put the challenge on hold until we can get our "to do" list a little smaller. We are excited to bring you a brand new website and catalog to name just a couple projects.

There is more exciting stuff in the works that I think you guys are going to LOVE...but we will keep that a secret for now.

Hey everyone! I'm Kassi, and I'm the DT leader for Creative Inspirations paints. I was asked to jump on over here, to share a tutorial using the fabulous CI paints... Which Great Impressions carries! Fabulous, huh! For those of you not familiar with Creative Inspirations Paint, it is a water based shimmer paint that is very versatile. It is a great way to add that little extra something to your stamped images!

I'm using two of the GI stamps for October (Snow Friends, and Christmas Globe). Christmas and snow just calls out for sparkle, don't ya think?

for the main image, I used:

Water Color paper

Great Impressions stamps (#K92, #G384)

Creative Inspirations Paint (Garnet, Coal, Winter Frost, Mango, Tutu Pink, Denium, Tanzanite, )

VersaMark clear embossing ink

Black Embossing powder

Distress Ink (Walnut Stain, Pumice Stone)

Glitter (white)

Ranger Glossy Accents

Ranger Crackle Accents

Fantastix

Mist Bottle (with water)

Sticky Note

Q-tip

Toothpick

Waterbrush

Step 1: Stamp the Christmas Globe in VersaMark on watercolor paper.

Step 2: Heat emboss with black embossing powder

Step 3: Create a mask by stamping the Globe onto a sticky note, and cutting out the globe part

Step 4: cover Christmas Globe with the mask

Step 5: mask off all but one snowman on the Snow Friends stamp.

Step 6: Ink with VersaMark ink

Step 7: remove the masks on the snowmen

Step 8: stamp snowman in the globe, and heat emboss with black embossing powder.

You can now discard the globe mask (or keep it and reuse it, like I do....)

Step 9: Let Fantastix sit in a cup of water for a few minutes to get nice and wet

Step 10: Lightly mist the snowman with water

Step 11: Using the wet Fantastix, paint in the snowman with a nice coat of Winter Frost CI paint.

*You can wash out your Fantastix, and use them over again... Love that!*

Step 12: Dip just the tip of a clean wet Fantastix into a little bit of Tanzanite CI paint.

Step 13: Using the side of the Fantastix, paint in your shadows. Keep the tip of your Fantastix against the edge of the image. Because the CI paints are water based, they blend fabulously! I've never had shading be so easy to achieve great looks! The color will be darkest at the tip and fade beautifully towards the center of the image.

Because of the light nature of the colors I am using, it is hard to see in photographs... You can build as many shades as you want. Just remember to go light to dark.

*If you find you have an area that is too dark, use a clean wet Fantastix, or a water paintbrush to wipe a little off. It is a very forgiving medium!*

Step 14: Paint in the hat and scarf with Garnet CI paint

Step 15: shade the hat and scarf with Coal CI paint (this is a dark color, and a little goes a long way....)

Step 16: Add a little bit of blush to the cheeks with Tutu Pink CI paint. This is a very light color, and you may want to use a little more paint than you had to for the darker colors.

Step 17: Small areas like the carrot nose can be hard to paint... So, grab a toothpick!

Step 18: While all the paints are drying, watercolor the base using Walnut Stain Distress Ink. I like to swipe the pad on an acrylic block, and pick up a little ink at a time on a water brush. You could paint the base with CI paint, but I wanted to have more of a contrast between the wood and the glass.

Step 19: Add a little shading to your base using Pumice Stone Distress Ink. This gives it so much more dimension.

Step 20: While the base is drying, go back to your now dry snowman. Add Glossy Accents (or your favorite liquid adhesive) to the fuzzy parts of the hat.

Step 21: Dump on the glitter!

Step 22: While that is drying, paint the snowflakes on the base with Denium CI paint. I like to use a lining brush for the fine detail work, but you can also use the Fantastix, or a toothpick.

Step 23: (this is why you emboss the image to begin with!!!) Take a damp q-tip and gently rub across the embossed areas. This will take off any paint that went onto the lines. (keeps everything looking so much neater!)

You can stop here if you want, but..... I wasn't ready to stop playing yet. =)

Step 24: Cover the globe portion of the Christmas Globe with Ranger Crackle Accents. Start by outlining the circle, then fill it in.

Step 25: (the hardest by far!) Set it aside to dry. This can take a LONG time, so I suggest letting it sit overnight and coming back to it in the morning. =)

Isn't he cute all cracked up! And the shimmer from the paint still shows through amazingly well!

Here is a finished card using this main image

I painted the ribbon and the button with Winter Frost CI paint to make them match the snowman. I also added a layer of Ranger Glossy Accent over the button to give it a nice glossy finish.

Great Impressions has more than just stamps in their line of products!! Great impressions has their own line of glitter! Sparkling Ice is a dry fine glitter and comes in a 1 oz jar. It is used on almost all of our art boards. We also have some chunky glitter as well as Jazzy sparkles Crystal and Gold glitters.

We have cloud stencils. This has been around for a long time. So long, in fact, some people forget that we have them. They crop up on our boards occasionally but they are always available.

We have started something new and it is taking off... for each stamp of the month, we put together a ribbon package (18" of each ribbon used on the board). Some months we do run out of packages but we still have some packages available from previous stamp of the months.

We also carry lines from other companies.....

We have the complete line of Inspirations paints. If you want to add some color and sparkle to your creations, Inspirations is the way to go! This paint has 55 colors that are vibrant and versatile. Inspirations has so many different ways to be used, it is a must have for everyone!! You can watercolor with them, stamp with them or turn them into your favorite spritz. That is just to name a few!

Stamp of the month challenge

We have all the submissions for the July Challenge. We are looking them over and everyone at Great Impressions is trying to decide which one the winner will be. One lucky person will be receiving the entire set of the stamps from the stamp of the month collection from August.

August's challenge will begin on the first of the month. The prize for this challenge will be a set of Septembers stamps from the program. Sooo........ if you really like Halloween stamps...... make sure you submit a card for Augusts challenge. I have seen a peak of the designs and they are way too cute!!!

The very first Stamp of the Month Challenge!!!!!

This Month is the first month for our Stamp of the Month Challenge. As you all know each month we design display boards with 6 cards using each of the stamps. Now it is your turn to make a card or a scrapbook page using the Stamp of the Month and any of the coordinating stamps that go with at program, (you must use at least one coordinating stamp). I cant wait to see what you come up with. HOW EXCITING THIS IS GOING TO BE!!!!

Contest rules will be posted on the right side of the blog at all times. As soon as we get cards coming in I will start posting them as a slide show. Enjoy!

Here is another wonderful card made by Ronda at Danicas Scrapbooking. The girls are J43 Best Friends...the apple tree branch is H17. This is a discontinued stamp but... we liked this card so much we pulled the mold so.... if you really like H17 feel free to order it. It will be going back into discontiued status after a short while. This card was colored using the Inspirations paints so it has quite a bit of sparkle to it.
